Contents<目次>
はじめに
「時制」とはいわば「過去」「現在」「未来」を表現する方法のこと。
日本語では「勉強"した"」や「勉強"している"」というように、「する」という言葉を変化させることで、「勉強」のタイミングをコントロールするのが特徴。
ですが英語は「勉強する(study)」という動詞そのものを変化させることでその表現を行う!
今回説明するのは「未来」に関わる表現の方法!「動詞」の形にも注目しながら、しっかりマスターしよう!
未来形(I will do)

Well, I will wait till the lesser cuckoo sings.
(よし、じゃあカッコーが鳴くまで待ってみよう!)
~ 30 minutes later~

...Ouch. She just sang.
(まじか。.....鳴けるやん。)
<words>
・the lesser cuckoo: ウグイス
・What the hell!: どういうことやねん! / なんやねん!
EXPLANATION
よかったな、デイブ。ウグイスの罵倒はなかなか聞けたもんじゃないぞ。
「will」が表すのは、「不確定な未来」や「意思」。絶対に起こるわけではないという前提があることがポイント。
will wait
→ 待つよ(不確定な未来/意思)
EXAMPLE
- 母親に宿題をせかされた時の返し
→Okay, I will.(わかった、やるよ。)
<とりあえず”やる意思”だけ見せてみる> - 明日の天気予報を見て一言
→It will rain tomorrow.(明日、雨降るわ。)
<予報が外れるかもしれない>
未来形(I am going to do)

(んなあほな!「ファウストの歩兵」のリリース日やん!もう待たれへんわ!).

(あー。あのゲームのリリース日延期になったで。今日ヤフーニュースで見たわ。)
What!? ? Time to riot!
(なんやて!? 暴動の時間や!)
![](http://jungle-eibunpou.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Creative-Tail-Animal-panda.svg_-300x300.png)
<words>
・my loved one: 愛する者
・in front of ~:~の前
・push back.: 延期する
EXPLANATION
ヤフーニュースにも掲載されるほどのゲームなのか、「ファウストの歩兵」。俄然気になってきたわ。
「be going to」が表すのは、「ほぼ確実に起こる未来」!すでに決まっている予定や、確信がある出来事を表現できるよ!
be going to wait
→ 待っ予定なんだ(予定・確信)
EXAMPLE
- 目の前まで雨雲が迫ってきてる時
⇒It is going to rain. (これは雨降るな)
<確信がある> - 予定決まっている時
⇒I am going to play tennis tomorrow. (明日友達とテニスするねん)
<すでに決まってる>
will VS be going to
「be going to」というフレーズは直訳すれば、”向かっている途中”という意味。
ではいったいどこに向かってるのか?
それは「未来」である。未来でなにかのアクションがあって、「それを行っている未来の路線に乗っかっている状態」なんだ。
図をみて理解を深めよう!

(俺これ明日まで待ってるやつやなぁ。え?なんで俺こんなあほなこと始めたん?)
<words>
・probably :たぶん、おそらく
・How come: なぜ?
・such a ~: なんて~(強調)
EXPLANATION
なんでこんなこと始めたかって?Who knows!! (知らんわ!!)
未来を表す「will」と、瞬間を強調する「doing」の組み合わせ。未来で起こる確率が比較的高いと思う時に使うよ!
※「doing」のニュアンスについては現在進行形(行動している瞬間を強調)を確認してね。
will be waiting
→ 待っているだろうな(未来の強調)
EXAMPLE
- I will be leaving for Kyoto tomorrow.
→(明日京都に行くんよ!)<近い未来> - He will be buying a car because his work is way too far from his place.
→ (彼車を買うことになるだろうな、だって職場遠いもん。)<未来の強調>
未来完了形(I will have done)

You know what? Finally!
(あのさ!やっとやで!)
What do you mean?
(え?どういう意味?)

![](http://jungle-eibunpou.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Creative-Tail-Animal-camel.svg_-300x300.png)
“Faust’s Pawn”!! I'll have waited for it for nearly two years! I literally can’t wait any longer.
(「ファウストの歩兵」やん!2年近く待ったことになるで!マジでもう待たれへん!)
Bad news. It will be put off until next Christmas.
(悪い知らせなんやけど、次のクリスマスまで延期になったみたいやで。)

What!? I’ll change the title of the game from “Faust’s Pawn” to “Postpone”! Time to riot!
(はぁ!?もうタイトル「ファウストの歩兵」から「延期」に変えたるわ!暴動の時間や!)
<words>
・You know what: あのさ、ねえねえ
・literally:まじで
・put off:延期する
・postpone = put of
EXPLANATION
どれだけおもろいゲームやねん!ていうかマイク!あんま興味なさそうやのに、いつも情報早いな!
未来を表す「will」と、時制上の点と点をつなぐ「have(完了形)」の組み合わせ。今やっていることや、考えていることが未来ではどうなっているのかを表現できるよ!
「have(現在完了形)」のニュアンスについては、現在完了形(過去を現在につなげる)を確認してみてね。
will have waited
→ 待っていることになるな
EXAMPLE
- I will have been married by the age of 30.
(30歳までには結婚しているだろうな。)
→今の自分の現状を考えた時にふと漏れたひと言。 - We will have arrived in Tokyo when we get up.
(僕らが起きるころには、東京についてるだろうな。)
→今東京行きの新幹線に乗車中。
